The Politics of Development
More than three quarters of the world’s population lives in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Politically complex and culturally rich, these regions contain the world’s fastest growing economies, and also its poorest communities.
This degree explores political systems and cultures across these regions, the arguments, histories and struggles towards economic development, and the ways these are affected by – and changing – global politics and economics.
The course is taught by regional experts based at AAME. There’s a strong emphasis on fieldwork: all students are given opportunities to conduct research in one of the regions, independently or through an attachment to a local university.
This course is designed for students who are fascinated by the world beyond the West, those interested in a career in international politics or development, or for those keen to pursue further research in one of these regions.
